Laura Caprara, Stellafly Social Media
Laura Caprara is the Founder, Owner, and Social Media Strategist at Stellafly Social Media. She is also a wife, mom, and entrepreneur. Laura has called Grand Rapids home since 1971, attended East Grand Rapids High School and Calvin College. Laura was recently named an Athena Award Finalist 2012.
In October 2011, Laura launched Stellafly Social Media. In less than a year it grew into a successful social
media firm with reach throughout West Michigan, the state, and the region. Recently, she added Detroit and New York areas to her demographic.
While social media is still a new concept to many, Stellafly is leading the charge in showing businesses and nonprofits how they can use vehicles such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to promote their message effectively and efficiently. Stellafly has worked with organizations ranging from Grand Rapids Social Diary, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Spoonlickers, Grand Rapids Community College, Rock the Rapids, Grand Rapids Community Foundation, Holland based furniture company, Sparkeology and Political Campaigns.
In 2012, Laura became a founding Board Member and Director for the Social Media Association of Michigan, which aims to “promote social media as an impactful communication vehicle through statewide education, adoption of social platforms and dissemination of successful social media solutions in public and private sectors.”
Laura is currently involved in the West Michigan community as a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce; Local First of West Michigan, a mentor for the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy at the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University; she serves on the Advisory Board for the Grand Rapids Area Professionals for Excellence (GRAPE); a Director for the Social Media Association of Michigan, Girls Choir Academy “Let Their Voices Be Heard” and with the Humane Society of West Michigan’s K9 Cabaret Fundraising event.
She's led efforts on these prominent local campaigns: Google Fiber for Grand Rapids, Ride the Rapid, Senita Lenear for City Commissioner and most recently, You Are Awesome. She enjoys getting involved with organizations that are near and dear to her, while still keeping focus on her biggest achievement, her two sons, Anthony and Thomas. In her spare time, she follows her passion for running and triathlons with big goals set for 2014.
